The shop at Dakshinpuri 37/38 is where I spend almost all my waking hours. It is a small space filled with the smell of engine oil and old tires. Usually, you will find me bent over a scooter or an auto rickshaw trying to figure out why the engine is making a weird knocking sound. My tools are spread out on a greasy cloth because I like to have everything within reach. Dakshinpuri is always moving, and there is never a shortage of work here. People bring in their vehicles after they have been through the rough roads. I have been working on motors since I was a young boy, so my hands are permanently stained black. It is hard work but I like the sound of a motor finally catching and running smooth. The shop isn't much to look at, just a basic shutter and some shelves with spare parts like spark plugs and brake cables. Sometimes neighbors just stop by to chat while I am tightening a bolt. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us getting our hands dirty every day. The sun hits the front of the shop in the afternoon, making it quite warm, but we keep going. If you are looking for 37/38, just look for the pile of old parts outside. It is an honest living and we have been here a long time.
