Janus Architecture Studio

Sheikh Sarai is a busy place, and being in Phase 2 at L-20B means there is always noise from the street outside. Inside the studio, it is a bit different. We have these large tables covered in trace paper and old rulers that have been here since we opened. The lighting isn't the greatest in the late afternoon, but we have some desk lamps that do the trick. It isn't a corporate office with glass walls or anything like that. It's more of a workspace where things get messy and then cleaned up again. We spend hours looking at drawings and talking about how things should fit together. Sometimes the printer jams right when we need it, which is frustrating, but that is just how it goes. There are stacks of old magazines in the corner and a few plants that probably need more water than they get. People come in with ideas, and we try to put them on paper. The neighborhood is full of shops and houses, so there is a lot to see if you look out the window for a minute. We don't have a big sign out front, just the name on the door. It feels like a real part of the community here, even if it is just a small studio in a busy part of town. We’ve been here long enough that the local delivery guys know exactly where to bring the packages without looking at the map.
