If you go down to the lower ground floor at D-8 in Hauz Khas, you’ll find our clinic. It’s tucked away a bit, which is nice because it gives the people coming in a bit of privacy. We deal with gynecology and fertility stuff, so things can get a little emotional or stressful for the folks who visit us. We try to keep the atmosphere calm. There are usually some old magazines on the table and a water cooler in the corner. The rooms aren't very large, but we have what we need to get the job done. Hauz Khas is a busy area, but once you step down into our level, the noise from the traffic mostly fades away. We’ve had women come here from all over the city, though a lot of our regulars are just from the surrounding blocks. Our staff is small, mostly just a couple of us handling the desk and the appointments. We spend a lot of time on the phone or writing notes in files. It’s not the kind of place with bright neon signs or anything like that. We just have a simple board outside. Most of the time, we’re just busy working through the schedule and making sure we listen to whoever is sitting in front of us. It’s a practical space for a practical job, and we’ve been here long enough that the place feels like a second home to those of us who work here.
