Gursikh Foundation

If you head over to Jangpura Extension, you’ll find us at Block Q-21-B in the barsati. Being on the rooftop means it gets quite hot in the summer, but we like the space and the view of the neighborhood. Gursikh Foundation isn't some large institution with branches everywhere. We’re just a local setup focusing on helping the community however we can. Usually, that means organizing small events or helping out families who are struggling with various things. We don’t have a lot of staff, just a few of us who have lived in this part of Delhi for most of our lives. The office is pretty simple, with just the basic furniture and a small pantry for making tea. It’s a quiet spot compared to the main roads, which we appreciate. Sometimes the stairs are a bit much for people to climb, but we don’t mind the exercise. We didn't set this up to become famous or make a lot of money. It was just something we felt we should do. We spend a lot of time on the phone or talking to people who come by to visit. It’s not always organized perfectly, and we often find ourselves working late into the evening. We don't have a big mission statement on the wall. We just show up every morning and see what needs to be done. It’s a simple life, but it feels right being here in Jangpura Extension doing this work.
