Chetan Batteries

Our shop, Chetan Batteries, is located at 20/1 in West Patel Nagar, right near the Kali Mata Mandir. You can usually hear the temple bells from where we sit. The shop is full of heavy lead batteries and big black boxes for inverters. It smells like metal and acid inside, which is something you just get used to after a while. The floor has some stains on it from when we have to top up the battery water. We spend a lot of our time moving these heavy things around, which is hard work on the back. We use a big trolley to move the batteries from the truck into the shop. The walls are a bit stained from all the years of work here. During the summer when the power goes out a lot in Patel Nagar, we get really busy with people coming in because their lights won't stay on. We have a small area in the back where we charge up the old batteries to see if they still have some life left in them. There are cables and wires hanging everywhere. It is a bit of a mess, but it is a working shop, not a showroom. We usually have a pot of tea sitting on the table and some of the local mechanics stop by to chat. We don't have any big signs or fancy lights. People just know the location near the mandir.
