Ashoka Carpets

If you head over to B-23, -2 in Lajpat Nagar, you’ll find our carpet shop. It’s been sitting there for quite some time now, and it’s packed from floor to ceiling. Walking through the aisles is a bit of a squeeze because there are rolls of carpets everywhere you look. Some are thick and woolly, others are thinner, and they all have that specific smell of fabric and storage. We don't spend much time worrying about the decor of the shop itself because the carpets cover most of it anyway. The lighting isn't the best, but it helps to see the colors for what they really are without those bright showroom bulbs. It gets quite dusty, especially when we’re moving things around for someone to see a pattern. We usually have a few guys around to help lift the heavy ones, and there’s always someone drinking chai near the entrance. Lajpat Nagar is always crowded, so there’s a constant stream of people walking past the door. We aren’t really the type to push people to buy things. Most folks just wander in to see what we have and we let them look. It’s a simple business, really. We buy them, we store them, and we sell them. The shop has seen better days in terms of the floor tiles, but as long as the carpets are good, it doesn't seem to matter much to anyone.
