Arora Paint & Hardware

If you live in Govindpuri, you might have seen Arora Paint & Hardware at 1663/17. It’s a busy little stretch of the road, and we’ve been tucked in here for quite some time. The shop is filled from floor to ceiling with all sorts of things like nails, hammers, brushes, and of course, plenty of paint buckets. It can be a bit of a maze if you don't know where things are, but we usually know exactly which pile has what you're looking for. People come in for everything from a single screw to a whole room's worth of supplies. We don't do much fancy advertising; mostly folks just know we're here because their neighbor told them. The floors are a bit scuffed from all the heavy cans being moved around, but that's to be expected in a hardware store. We spend a lot of time talking to people about their home repairs. Sometimes they bring in a broken part and we try to find a match for it. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting and carrying, but it keeps us moving. The sun hits the front window pretty hard in the afternoons, so it gets warm inside, but we have a fan that helps. We aren't a big chain store where everything is in plastic boxes. Here, you can actually see what you’re getting before you pay for it. It’s just a normal shop run by people who live right nearby. We open up early because that's when the builders stop by.
