Ambalica Engineers

Our shop is out in the Ghanshyam Industrial Estate, right behind Margha Farm in Rakhial. It’s an industrial area, so there is always dust and the smell of metal in the air. We are at 62A. It’s a solid building, but nothing fancy to look at. We spend most of our time out on the floor dealing with the machines and parts. It gets hot in the summer, especially when everything is running at once. My hands are usually greasy by noon. We don’t have a front desk person, so if someone stops by, one of us just wipes our hands on a rag and goes to see what they need. It’s mostly just hard work and making sure the specs are right. We’ve had the same neighbors for years, and we all kind of look out for each other in the estate. The road leading up to the farm can be a bit bumpy after the rains, which makes moving heavy stuff a bit of a pain. We started out with just a couple of lathes and we’ve added things slowly over time. There isn't much of a break room, so we usually just eat our lunch sitting on crates or whatever is handy. It’s not the kind of place where you’d wear a suit. We just focus on the engineering work and try to get the parts out the door on time. It's a loud place, but we are used to it by now.
