You can find Alter Ego at 87 B in Shahpurjat, which is tucked away near Asiad Village. Shahpurjat is a maze of narrow lanes and old buildings that have been converted into workspaces. Our place is one of those. It’s not easy to find if you’re visiting for the first time, as the numbering can be a bit confusing. Once you get inside, you’ll see that we’ve used every bit of space we have. There are rolls of material and boxes tucked into every corner. The lighting is a mix of old fluorescent tubes and whatever sun comes through the small windows. It’s a very busy environment, with the sound of motorcycles and people talking in the lane right outside our door. We don't have a fancy reception desk or a waiting area. If you come by, you’ll probably find us mid-task, surrounded by the tools of our trade. The walls are a bit uneven, and the floor has some cracks, but it’s a solid place to work. We have a small table where we sit for lunch, usually sharing whatever someone brought from home. The neighborhood has a lot of character, with stray cows and high-end boutiques sharing the same narrow streets. It’s an interesting place to be located. We don’t spend much time worrying about the decor; we’re more focused on getting the work done and making sure everything is ready on time. It’s just a regular, slightly messy, and very busy workshop where we keep at it.
