Aashray Design Consultants Pvt Ltd is run out of the first floor at A-184 in Defence Colony. It’s a nice enough neighborhood, fairly quiet compared to the main market areas. We’ve been here for a bit, and the office has kind of grown around us. There are papers everywhere and samples of materials tucked into corners. We do design work, which means we spend a lot of time thinking about how to put rooms together. It’s not always glamorous; there’s a lot of boring math and checking regulations involved too. We are a small group, and we don't really have a hierarchy. Whoever is free takes the call or answers the door. We don't have a receptionist or anything fancy like that. If you come by, you’ll probably just see us hunched over our desks or talking loudly about a supplier who hasn’t delivered on time. We try to be practical. We know people just want things that look okay and work well without costing a fortune. We aren't trying to win any big awards or get our names in magazines. We just want to do a solid job for the people who hire us. Sometimes we stay late when a deadline is close, ordering food and just pushing through. It’s a lot of hard work, but we are used to it by now. The stairs to the first floor are a bit steep, but they keep us moving. We like the pace of things here in Defence Colony.
