Down in Badarpur at A-27, you can find us on the first floor right in the middle of Dhadan Mohalla. It is a busy part of South Delhi, and the streets are always full of people moving around. Our space is not very large, but it fits what we need to do every day. We usually get in early before the heat really starts to kick in, especially in the summer months when the sun hits the front windows. Most of the work involves sitting at the old wooden tables we’ve had for years, sorting through different gems and figuring out what goes where. It is a bit of a maze getting here if you aren’t from around this part of town, but the locals know the way. We keep a small kettle in the corner for making coffee throughout the afternoon. There is a lot of noise from the street vendors downstairs, which can be distracting, but you get used to it after a week or two. We don’t bother with much decoration on the walls because we’re usually too busy looking at the stones anyway. Sometimes neighbors drop by just to say hello or ask about a small repair. It’s just a regular local spot where we do our thing and try to keep things organized. The floor is a bit creaky in one corner, but it’s home to us during the working hours.
