Our little office is over in Phoenix Bay, which is a busy part of Port Blair if you know the area at all. We are set up at Mohd Aslam’s place, specifically at CT50/5 MFX10. It’s a bit of a maze of streets around here, but once you find the right corner, it’s easy. We deal with Nidhi services, which basically means helping out the community with their small savings and loans. It’s not a corporate bank with glass walls; it’s just a room with some old cupboards and a few chairs that have seen better days. We spend a lot of time talking to the neighbors and people who live down by the bay. Life in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands has its own rhythm, and we try to stick to that. Some days are very quiet, and we just sit and watch the traffic go by. Other days, everyone seems to come in at once. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us who know the locals by their first names. We try to keep the paperwork simple because no one likes filling out endless forms. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we haven't gotten around to it yet. It feels more real this way. We’re just part of the local fabric in Port Blair, trying to do something useful for the folks living nearby. Most people just walk in without an appointment.
