Upakritam Foundation

We are located on the ground floor over in Ward Number 26. If you are heading toward the jail, you will see us right there in Prothrapur. It’s a busy little pocket of South Andaman. We have been in this building for a while now. It’s not much to look at, just a regular office where we keep our files and meet folks from the neighborhood. Most days, it’s just the sound of the fans spinning and people coming in to talk about things happening in the ward. We aren't trying to change the whole world, just looking after the people who live near the gate. Sometimes the traffic by the Burma Jail gets backed up, and it gets pretty noisy, but you get used to it after a while. We share the floor with a couple of other small setups. It gets a bit cramped when more than four people show up at once. We usually have some tea going for anyone who stops by to chat. Living and working in Port Blair and the surrounding areas like Prothrapur means you deal with the rain half the year. We have had to fix the roof twice already. It’s just us doing the daily work, trying to be useful to the people nearby. There isn’t a big staff or any corporate rules here. We just open the door in the morning and see what the day brings for the Upakritam Foundation.
