You can find us over at Bathubasti in the Garacharma area of Port Blair. Our specific spot is Survey No. 365/5. Being out here in the Andaman Islands is different from the mainland. Things move a bit slower, which is mostly a good thing, though it makes getting supplies for the resort a bit of a task sometimes. We are right there in the middle of the islands, and we’ve been working on this resort for some time. Port Blair is a busy hub for tourists, so we see a lot of people passing through. Our place isn't one of those massive, cold hotel chains; it’s more of a local business run by people who live here. We spend a lot of time making sure the grounds look okay and that everything is ready for whoever shows up. The weather is always a factor, especially during the monsoon season when everything gets a bit damp. Garacharma is a decent area to be based in because it’s not too far from the main stuff but still has its own vibe. We deal with all kinds of travelers, from families to backpackers. It is hard work keeping a place running in this climate, but we enjoy the environment. We don't use a lot of fancy words to describe what we do; we just provide a place to stay. It is a lot of cleaning and fixing things, really, but someone has to do it. It is just life on the island.
