About Gv Kachrewaale Foundation – Charity & Non Profit Organisations in South Andamans
We are out here on Neil Island, specifically over at Sitapur Beach. If you know the area, you know it’s a bit of a trek from the main jetty, but it’s where we spend most of our time. Gv Kachrewaale Foundation basically started because we couldn't stand seeing the plastic piling up on the sand. We set up at Emerald Gecko, which is a nice enough spot, though the salty air ruins everything eventually. It’s just a few of us. We spend our mornings walking the shoreline and picking up what the tide brings in. It’s a lot of water bottles and old flip-flops mostly. People call us the kachrewaale or the trash people, and we don't mind that because it’s exactly what we do. The humidity here is no joke, and sometimes we wonder if we’re making a dent at all, but then you look at a clean patch of sand and it feels okay for a minute. We don't have a fancy office or anything like that. Just a desk, some big bags, and a lot of sweat. The locals know where to find us if they have stuff that needs clearing out. It’s a quiet life, mostly just dealing with the sun and the waste. We don't do much else. Some days the rain stops everything, and we just sit under the porch at Emerald Gecko and wait it out. That is pretty much the whole story.
