Working out of Port Blair is a bit different than the mainland. We are located right in Aberdeen Bazaar, inside the A.K. Hazra CCS building where the head office is. It’s right in the middle of everything. If you know the bazaar, you know how crowded it gets with tourists and locals. Our office is basically where we coordinate all the building stuff. Logistics are the biggest headache here because getting materials on the island takes forever sometimes. You have to plan way ahead. The weather is either really sunny or it's pouring rain, there isn't much in between. We spend a lot of time on the phone checking where the trucks are or if the shipments arrived at the port. It’s not a polished corporate office. It’s just a place with some desks, chairs, and a lot of folders. We’ve got the fan going most of the time because the humidity is no joke. People drop by to talk about projects and we usually just sit down and figure it out right there. Being in the South Andaman area means we see a lot of the same faces. We’ve been part of the landscape here for a while. It’s just us, Hindustan Construction Company, trying to get things built without too much fuss. It's a lot of work but it keeps us busy every single day through the seasons.
