We are over here at Diamond Park in Joka, which most people know is quite a bit of a drive from the main parts of Kolkata. It is usually pretty dusty around the yard because of the heavy machines moving in and out all day. Sany Heavy Industry India Pvt Ltd has been at this spot for a while now. The office isn't anything fancy, just a place where we sit and handle the paperwork for the excavators and cranes. Sometimes the traffic on the way to Joka is a real headache, especially when the big trailers are trying to turn. Inside, it's mostly just us keeping track of things on our computers and talking to the drivers. We don't have a big fancy lobby or anything like that. Just some desks, a water cooler that makes a loud noise, and stacks of files. In the afternoon, it gets really hot under the tin roof parts of the workshop area. You can hear the sounds of clanking metal from the back most of the time. It is a working site through and through. The tea guy comes around twice a day and that is usually the highlight when everyone stops for five minutes. In the winter, it’s not too bad, but the monsoon rains turn the yard into a bit of a mess with all the mud. We just put on our boots and get on with the job. It’s mostly about the heavy steel and the grease around here. Nothing more to it really.
