Sahil Tannery is located at 29A/3A, Gulam Jilani Khan Road. Working with leather is a tough business, and our place shows it. It’s not the cleanest job in the world, but it’s what we’ve been doing for years. The air always has that heavy smell of hides and the chemicals we use to process them. You get used to it after the first few days, though visitors usually notice it right away. We have stacks of skins waiting to be worked on, and the machines make a fair bit of noise throughout the day. The floors are often wet or covered in scraps, so you have to watch your step. It’s a very hands-on environment. We don't have a fancy front office; most of the space is taken up by the actual work. Gulam Jilani Khan Road is always busy with trucks and rickshaws moving goods around. We fit right in with the other workshops in the area. Our staff knows their way around a hide, and they don't mind getting their hands dirty. It’s a lot of physical labor, lifting and stretching and sorting. We take our breaks when we can, usually sitting on whatever crate is empty. It’s a simple setup, but it works for us. We just focus on getting the leather ready and sent out to the people who need it. There’s no mystery to it, just hard work and long days at the tannery.
