About Ivrcl Infrastructure Project Ltd. – Metals & Minerals in South 24 Parganas
Down in Garia, specifically the Balia side of Kolkata, is where you’ll find us. It’s a crowded part of town, so there is always noise from the rickshaws and people walking to the station. Our building is tucked away near the P.O., and it usually smells like the local markets nearby. We have a small team working out of this branch. Most of us have been here long enough to know the short cuts through the lanes. Work starts with a lot of paperwork and phone calls to the sites. Since we handle projects, there’s always someone coming in with a delivery or a query. We don't have a big reception area, just some chairs and a desk that’s seen better days. The fans are always running because of the Kolkata heat. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just wait it out or work by the windows. The stairs up to our floor are a bit steep, so we all get a workout every day. There’s an old clock on the wall that ticks too loud, but nobody bothers to fix it. We’ve got a small balcony where we keep some potted plants that struggle in the heat. It’s funny how you get used to the noise of the city after a while. If the tea man is late, the whole office gets a bit grumpy. We spend a lot of time on the landline because the mobile signal can be patchy inside the thick walls of this old building. We don't use any fancy project management software, just a big whiteboard and some markers that are usually running dry. It’s a very grounded way of working. No one here is trying to impress anyone with big words or polished presentations. We just want to make sure the concrete is poured right and the workers are safe. That’s the reality of our days here in Garia.
