About Bishnupriya Art & Studio – Safety & Security in South 24 Parganas
Out here in Kulpi. It’s a quiet place for a studio. We’ve been here for a long time. It’s where the art happens. We do all sorts of things, mostly manual work with paints and materials. It’s not a big city gallery. It’s just a local studio where we make things. Sometimes people come by to see what we’re working on. The light in the morning is the best for working. We have a lot of brushes and jars of color scattered around. It’s messy, but that’s how a studio should be. I started this because I couldn't see myself doing anything else. My hands are usually covered in some kind of stain. We don't have a big marketing plan. People in Kulpi know us. We might do a sign for a local shop or a painting for someone’s house. It’s slow work. You can't rush it. The studio gets cold in the winter, so we wrap up in old sweaters. We don't talk much while we work. Just the sound of the tools. It’s a simple existence. We don't make much money, but we have enough. It’s a good feeling to finish something and see it sitting there. That’s why we do it. Sometimes the local kids stop by to watch us paint. We show them a few things. It’s a small way to give back to the village. We just keep creating what we can with the supplies we have. It’s a peaceful way to live.
