Raab Gramin Seva Foundation

Raab Gramin Seva Foundation is situated in Village No. 3, Fakir Para, over in Kharupetia. We are at Biku Ali’s house. It’s a rural area in Darrang, so things are pretty simple around here. We aren't a big organization with a lot of employees. It’s just a few of us who live in the village. We wanted to do something for the local people, so we set this up. Kharupetiaghat is a place where people work hard, mostly in the fields or small shops. We try to fit in with that. Our office is just a room with some basic furniture. We don't have any fancy technology or big budgets to work with. We just use what we’ve got and try to be helpful. Some days we spend more time outside talking to people than we do inside at a desk. It’s the best way to know what’s really going on. The roads can get pretty muddy when it rains, making it hard to move around, but we manage. We aren't looking for any awards or big recognition. We just want to do our bit for the community we live in. It's a quiet life, but it's ours. We’ve always lived in Darrang and we know the land and the people well. It’s a bit of a struggle sometimes, but we keep at it because we care about this village.
