Mukti Organic Tea

Our place is House No. 111 in Dhekiajuli, not far from the Veterinary Hospital. This is where we handle our organic tea. If you come by, you’ll probably smell the tea leaves before you even see the sign. It’s a local operation and we spend most of our time sorting through the batches. Tea is a big part of life here, and we wanted to do something that stayed away from the heavy chemicals you see in big plantations. It’s a lot of manual labor. We check the leaves, pack them up, and make sure they’re stored somewhere dry. The weather in Dhekiajuli can be a bit unpredictable, so we’re always keeping an eye on the humidity. Our building is just a regular house that we've converted to fit the business. It’s not fancy. There are usually a few of us sitting around a table drinking tea while we talk about the next shipment. We know the farmers around here and they know us. It’s a small community. Sometimes the cows from near the hospital wander by and it’s just a normal day. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. We just focus on the tea itself and making sure it tastes like it should. The house can get pretty warm when we are processing the tea, so we usually have the windows wide open. You can hear the sounds from the hospital nearby and the traffic on the road. It’s just a normal part of working here.
