S. D Knitwears

We are based out of unit 1352 in the Hsiidc Rai Industrial Estate. Being in an industrial area like this means it is always noisy with the sound of machinery and big trucks moving around. S. D Knitwears is just a regular factory floor with a small section for our office stuff. We have several knitting machines that run for most of the day. It gets very hot in here during the summer months even with the big fans blowing all the time. We spend a lot of time checking the yarn and making sure the machines aren't snagging anything. There are always boxes piled up near the loading dock waiting to go out. It’s not a place for visitors really, just a place where we get the work done. The floor is stained with oil in places and there is lint everywhere from the wool and cotton we use for the knits. We have a small tea station in the corner where we take our breaks and talk. Most of the people working here have been with us for a long time. We don't do much in the way of advertising at all. We just focus on finishing the orders we have on the books. It’s a lot of repetitive work but it keeps us busy. The industrial estate is a long commute for some of us but we are used to the routine by now and we keep moving.
