Down at Plot No.-1413 in the Hidc Industrial Estate at Rai, you’ll find Raksan Transformers Private Limited. We’ve got a big shed here where we build and fix transformers. It’s heavy work, involving a lot of metal and copper wire. The estate is quite large, and it can be a bit of a drive to get here from the city, but it’s where all the industrial action is. Inside, there’s usually the smell of oil and the sound of cranes moving things around. We don't have a carpeted office or air conditioning in the workshop, so it gets pretty warm in the summer months. Most of us have been working with transformers for years, so we know our way around the big tanks and the cooling fins. It’s not the kind of job you can do in a suit. We wear our work clothes and get our hands dirty every day. There’s always a bit of a mess with scraps of wire or old parts lying around, but we try to keep it organized enough to work safely. We aren't really interested in being a big name; we just want to make sure the transformers we send out are solid and don't cause any trouble later on. It’s a quiet life in Rai, mostly just us and the other factories nearby, keeping the local economy moving one piece of equipment at a time. It's a living, and we're used to it.
