Being out in Village Gorari in the Rohtas district of Bihar is a different experience compared to the city branches. We are located right at the post office area, so we are pretty easy to find if you are local. The RMC division here deals with a lot of local conditions that you don’t see in the bigger cities. The roads can be rough, especially during the monsoon season when everything turns into a muddy mess. We spend a lot of time just maintaining the equipment because the dust and the dirt out here really take a toll on the machinery. It is a quiet village most of the time, except when our mixers are running. The guys who work here are mostly local or have been staying in the area for a long time. We have a very basic setup, just enough to get the job done and keep the records straight. There is a lot of waiting around for supplies to arrive sometimes, but that is just how it goes when you are further out. The sun gets really intense in the afternoons, so we try to get the heavy work done early in the morning. We sit around the small table in the office to discuss the day’s plan, usually with some local snacks. It is an honest day’s work and we don’t pretend it is anything more than that. The building is simple, functional, and matches the surrounding countryside.
