Mesco Steel,Jajpur,(Orissa)

I have been working around the Mesco Steel plant in Jajpur for quite a while now. It is a big operation and there is always something going on with the steel production and the heavy trucks moving in and out of the gates. Most of the stuff we handle goes through the Jajpur site but the main person to talk to for a lot of things is Saroj Kumar Kar over in Sonepur. Orissa gets really hot in the summer months so we all try to get the heavy lifting and the dirty work done early in the morning before the sun gets too high. It is not a fancy job by any means but it keeps everyone around here busy. The office address is in Sonepur which is a bit of a distance from the main plant but that is just how the paperwork is set up for us. We spend a lot of time looking at metal and making sure the orders are correct before they go out. Sometimes the dust from the plant gets on everything you own but you just get used to it after a few days of working here. The people on the team are mostly locals who have lived in Orissa their whole lives. We do not have a big office or anything like that, just a desk and some chairs where Saroj keeps the ledgers. It is a simple way to make a living and the steel industry is what keeps this part of the country moving.
