Vivekanand Hospital

Our hospital, Vivekanand Hospital, is right at Jodbasavanna Chowk. If you know the chowk, you know it’s the heart of the area with people crossing in every direction. The noise from the intersection never really stops, even late at night. The hospital itself has been standing here for quite some time. It’s a tall building with stairs that are a bit steep, though we have the lift for the patients. The lobby is usually a bit of a scramble in the mornings when everyone arrives at the same time. We have a small canteen on one of the floors that serves basic food, and the smell of sambar usually fills the hallway around lunchtime. The staff is a mix of older nurses who have been here forever and some younger ones just starting out. We don’t go for any of that corporate style. Our desks are cluttered with stethoscopes and prescription pads. The paperwork is constant, and we’re always trying to find more space for the files. Sometimes the water pressure in the bathrooms acts up, but we have a guy who comes to fix it. People from the nearby villages often come here because they know the landmark of Jodbasavanna Chowk so well. It’s a busy, unpretentious place. We just focus on the patients and try to keep everything moving without too much fuss.
