Vd Textiles

Our place is at No. 81 in Unique Society. It is more of a quiet residential area compared to the big commercial districts, which we actually like quite a bit. It’s a bit calmer for doing our work. We deal with textiles every day, so there are always scraps of thread and pieces of cloth lying around on the floor. It is hard to keep the place perfectly clean when you are working with fabric all the time. We have a few machines running that make a steady humming sound throughout the afternoon. Sometimes the neighbors come by to chat while we’re unloading new rolls of material from the truck. We don’t have a big sign out front, so you have to look for the number 81. It’s just a straightforward operation. We focus on getting the orders ready and making sure the colors match what was asked for. Sometimes we run out of space because the fabric takes up so much room, so we have to stack things pretty high. It’s just a small group of us here. We’ve learned over the years that things rarely go exactly as planned, but we just deal with the issues as they come up. We drink a lot of chai during the breaks and talk about whatever is happening in the neighborhood. It is a decent way to spend the day and we feel lucky to have this spot.
