Taj Masale & Food Product

We’ve been here at Plot D/126 in the Tembhurni MIDC area for a while now. It’s a busy spot with trucks coming and going all day. If you walk by our place, the first thing you’ll notice is the smell of the spices we’re grinding. It gets pretty strong sometimes, especially when the wind blows toward the main road. Most of the people working here are from the nearby villages. We start early, usually before the sun gets too hot, because the metal shed gets really warm in the afternoons. Dealing with food products means there is always cleaning to do. We spend half our time making sure the floors are swept and the machines are wiped down properly. The electricity can be a bit patchy out here in the industrial zone, so we’ve learned to work around the schedule of the power cuts. It’s not fancy work, just honest stuff. We mostly keep to ourselves and focus on getting the bags packed and ready for the morning transport. Sometimes the chai wala comes by around eleven, and that’s when everyone takes a quick break under the shade near the gate. It’s a simple setup we’ve got going. We don’t have a big office or anything, just the production floor and a small desk where we keep the logs. It works for us. The neighbors in the other plots are mostly into engineering or chemicals, so we are the ones making the area smell like a kitchen. We just keep doing what we do every day.
