Being located right near the railway station at 126 Railway Line makes a lot of sense for a travel business like ours. I spend most of my day either on the phone or staring at the train and bus schedules on my old computer screen. It gets pretty loud around here with the engines passing by and the station announcements, but we have all gotten used to the noise over the years. People often walk in straight from the platform, looking for a way to get to the next town or wanting to book a car for a family wedding. I try my best to keep the paperwork organized, though the desk usually has a few tea cups and scattered notes on it. It is not a big corporate office where everyone wears a uniform. It is just me and a couple of drivers making sure people get where they need to go without too much fuss or confusion. Sometimes the internet is slow and we have to wait for the booking pages to load, which can be frustrating when a customer is standing right there in a hurry. We know the local routes well, especially the shortcuts that avoid the worst traffic during the peak morning hours. Travel can be stressful for people, so I just try to give them straight answers about times and prices. We don't have fancy brochures, just real talk about how long it takes to reach your destination. It’s a busy spot but it is real work.
