Ashoka Enterprises

Ashoka Enterprises is located out on Hugli Road inside the industrial estate. Being in an industrial area means there is always noise from the machines and trucks coming in and out. It’s a bit dusty and the roads aren't always the smoothest, but this is where the work happens. We spend most of our time on the floor or in the small office space we carved out. We have been working out of this spot for years and it suits what we do. It is not the kind of place you come for a coffee and a chat, it is where stuff gets made and shipped. We keep a pretty tight schedule because the lorries have to be loaded on time. Some days are longer than others, especially when a big order comes in at the last minute and we all have to pitch in. We don't have a big sign or anything flashy, just the name on the door. It is a lot of physical labor and keeping track of inventory. We have grown used to the smell of grease and the sound of the metal clanking all day. It is just a normal day for us. We know our neighbors in the estate and we all kind of look out for each other. That’s how things go around here on Hugli Road, we just keep moving along and getting through the pile of work we have.
