You can find us in Hanuman Nagar, which is in Malewadi, part of the Malshiras area in Solapur. It’s a very hot and dry part of the country, so our work is usually cut out for us. We focus on agro technology, which mostly means we try to find ways to farm better in this climate. The office is a small place near the road and it’s usually quite warm inside. We have a few old computers where we keep track of our experiments and the weather patterns. We are just a few local guys who wanted to do something useful for our village. We don't have any fancy degrees from big universities; we just learned by doing and by watching what works on our own farms. Most of our days are spent visiting different plots and seeing how the plants are handling the heat. We don't have a big marketing team or anyone to answer the phones with a script. If you call, you’ll just get one of us. We often share our lunch together and talk about what we need to do next. It’s not a polished business, and we make plenty of mistakes. But we are honest about it and we keep moving forward. We just want to make sure the farming here stays viable for the next generation. It is a tough job but someone has to do it.
