If you find yourself in Gote, you probably know where Hotel Annapurna is. We are right across from it at Sr. 734. It’s a convenient location because everyone uses the hotel as a landmark when they are giving directions. Aqua Amrut is where we spend our days. It’s mostly about managing the water supply and making sure the equipment is clean and running right. The sun hits the front of the building pretty hard in the afternoons, so it gets warm inside, but we keep the water cool enough. It’s a straightforward business. We don’t spend money on fancy decorations or big colorful signs. Most of our day is spent checking filters or talking to the drivers who come to pick up the crates of bottles. Sometimes the road outside gets blocked with trucks, which makes things a bit loud, but that’s just how it is in Gote. We’ve been at this for a bit now. We know the regulars who come by, and we know who prefers which size bottle for their home. There’s a lot of lifting involved, so it keeps us moving all day. It isn’t the kind of job where you sit down much. We keep the floor swept and the bottles stacked in the shade. It’s practical work. No one here wears a suit. We just wear what’s comfortable for moving heavy stuff around. It’s a good little spot, and we like being right there opposite the hotel.
