Shashi Kant & Co.

Our shop, Shashi Kant & Co., is right in the middle of Main Bazar at Gandhi Chowk. It’s a busy spot in Mohin and there is always something going on. We are located near the Government Boys School, so you can imagine the noise when the kids are out. We’ve been here for quite a few years now. The shop isn't very large, but we pack a lot into it. Every morning we roll up the shutters and sweep the front. It gets dusty because of all the traffic in the market. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s just us serving the people who walk in. Most of our customers are regulars who we’ve known for a long time. We sell a variety of things and try to keep what people need in stock. If we don't have it, we usually know where to get it. The evenings are the busiest time when everyone is out doing their shopping. We don't have any polished speeches or mission statements. We just try to be fair and get through the day's work. Sometimes we sit on the wooden bench outside when things are slow and watch the people go by. It’s a good community to be a part of. The school bell is our clock for the day. We close up when the market starts to quiet down and head home. That’s pretty much how it goes for us.
