J. J. Engineer

J. J. Engineer is situated near Vardhman Mills on Sai Road in Baddi. If you know this part of town, you know it’s mostly factories and workshops. Our place is no different. It’s a bit noisy most of the time because of the machines and the heavy traffic on Sai Road. We’ve been here for a good number of years now. The floor is usually covered in a bit of oil and metal shavings, which is just how an engineering shop should look, I suppose. We aren't trying to be one of those high-tech firms with glass walls. We have a solid roof and some heavy tools, and that’s about it. Most of our guys have been with us since the start. We have our tea breaks together under the shade when it gets too hot inside the shed. Baddi is a busy industrial hub, so there is always something coming in that needs fixing or fabricating. We don't really do much advertising. People just find us when they need something done. Sometimes the trucks parked outside block the entrance, but we manage. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we know. We just take each job as it comes and try to get it out the door on time. It’s a simple way of working, without any corporate layers or complicated processes. We just get our hands dirty and finish the work before heading home for the evening.
