Negi General Store

Negi General Store is located up in Shillai, specifically on Hospital Road. Being in a place like Shillai is different because the weather really dictates how we work. When it rains or gets cold, everything slows down and we spend more time talking to whoever happens to be in the shop. Since we are on Hospital Road, we get a lot of people who are visiting patients or working at the hospital nearby, so we keep a lot of quick snacks and bottled water ready. It’s a general store, which means I try to stock whatever might be useful, from notebooks for students to batteries and basic medicines that don't need a prescription. The shop is a bit old and the wooden shelves have started to sag a little under the weight of all the jars. I do most of the work myself, including the cleaning and the accounts. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except when the supply trucks come up the winding roads to drop off our crates. Sometimes they can’t make it if the weather is bad, so we have to manage with what is left on the shelves. People here are friendly and they don't mind waiting a minute if I'm busy in the back looking for something. It’s not a big fancy place, just a room filled with stuff that people in Shillai might need during their day. I’ve lived here a long time and the shop feels like a second home now.
