Kamla Dials And Devices Ltd.

Up here in Parwanoo, at Plot No. 3 in Sector-3, we spend our days dealing with small parts and devices. The air is a bit thinner here, and the view of the hills is nice, though we spend most of our time looking at dials and tiny components under bright desk lamps. It’s a factory setting, so there’s a lot of sitting at benches and using small tools. The building is older than it looks, and sometimes the plumbing gives us a bit of trouble in the winter months. We produce a lot of different dials, and it requires a fair bit of patience. Some of the machines we use are quite old, but they still do the job better than the newer ones we tried out once. The floor is painted grey, but it’s worn down in the spots where people stand the most. We have a tea break at the same time every day, and that’s usually when the most talking happens. Otherwise, it’s mostly the sound of clicking and the hum of the small assembly lines. It’s a steady kind of work, nothing too exciting, but it keeps us busy. We have to keep things fairly clean because of the devices, but there’s always a bit of grease somewhere. Managing the stock is a headache, especially when the shipments from the valley are delayed by the weather or the mountain roads.
