Being down in Chennai at H.S.C.E means dealing with a lot of heat and humidity. Tamil Nadu is a beautiful place but the weather really takes it out of you. Our office here is fairly basic. We have a few rooms with tiled floors to keep things a bit cooler, and we try to keep the sun out with thick curtains. It’s not a very large setup. We have our desks, a water cooler that gets a lot of use, and stacks of paperwork that need to be processed. Most of us speak a mix of the local language and English while we are working. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed. We don't have a strict dress code or anything like that, just people showing up to get their work done. Sometimes the traffic in the city makes people late, but we don't make a big fuss about it. We just start when everyone gets in. We spend the day handling various tasks and making sure our records are up to date. It’s not the kind of place that has a lot of high-tech gadgets. We use what works and we stick to our routine. When the day ends, we usually head out for a quick coffee before starting the long commute home. It’s just a regular office life in a busy southern city, nothing more and nothing less. We just keep at it and stay focused.
