About Gaurav Rice Udyog – Food & Beverages in Siwan
Down here in Naurhiha Kamoli, things move at a bit of a slower pace than the city, but the mill stays busy. Birbhanpur is where we’ve set up shop and it’s been that way for a while. We work with the local crops that come in from the surrounding fields. Most days start early before the sun is even fully up because that’s when the first carts arrive. We have to check the moisture in the rice and get it ready for processing. It’s a lot of manual labor, lifting heavy sacks and making sure the dryers are working right. My boots are usually covered in mud if it’s been raining lately. The building itself is just a functional space, mostly storage and the area where the machines sit. We don't have a front desk or anyone to answer phones all day. If someone wants to talk, they usually just walk into the yard and find us near the loading dock. It’s an honest way to make a living and we know most of the farmers by their first names. We don’t put on any acts here. It’s just about getting the rice cleaned and packed so it can go where it’s needed. The noise of the mill is just the background of our lives. It’s dusty and loud, but it’s our place and we’re used to the grit of it.
