Down in Nachiyar Koil, you’ll find us at Vicky Metals. Our address is 9/2, Meela Veethi. It’s a narrow street, like most of the ones around here, and you can usually hear the sound of metal being worked on from a few houses away. This town has a long history with this kind of work, and we’re just one small part of it. Our shop isn't anything special to look at from the outside. It’s just a place where we keep the materials and get the work finished. The air usually smells a bit like metal and polishing wax. We don’t have a lot of space, so we have to be careful about where we put things so nobody trips. My family has been around this area for ages, so we know everyone on Meela Veethi. We spend a lot of time just talking to the people who stop by. It’s not just about the metal; it’s about the community here. The rain sometimes leaks a little near the back door during the monsoon, so we have to move the stock around. It’s just the usual daily chores. We don’t use computers for everything; a lot of it is still written down in big ledgers. It’s a slower way of doing things compared to the big cities, but it works for us. We just keep our tools ready and take each day as it comes.
