Sri Ramesh Sparkler Factory

We are located at No. 11 Amman Kovil Patti Middle Street. If you come down this way, you will see us right there. It is a busy little place, especially when the festivals are coming up. We spend most of our days working with the powders and the sticks to make the sparklers. It is hot work and your hands get dirty pretty fast. My father used to do this and now we are just keeping the tradition going in the family. The street outside is usually full of people and sometimes goats. We don’t have a big fancy office or anything like that. Just the workshop where we do the packing and the storage area. Sometimes the smell of the chemicals is quite strong, but you get used to it after a while. We have a small radio that plays songs while we work to keep us moving. When the rain starts, we have to hurry to cover everything up so the materials don't get ruined. It is not an easy job but it is what we know how to do. The neighbors are nice and they don't mind the noise too much. We usually start early in the morning before the sun gets too high. By the afternoon, we are all a bit tired and ready for some tea from the stall at the corner. We just keep making the sparklers and hoping people like them for their celebrations. It is just a simple life here on Middle Street.
