About Southern Art Printers – Safety & Security in Sivakasi
Our shop is right at 118/2 on Velayutham Road. It is an old building and the walls have seen a lot of ink over the years. We have these heavy manual cutters that make a loud thud every time we use them. My father used some of the same tools, I think. The street outside is always noisy with motorcycles and people walking past to the market. Inside, it smells like solvent and paper. We have stacks of wedding cards and local flyers piled up on the side tables. I usually start the day by oiling the gears on the main press. If the humidity is high, the paper acts funny, so we have to watch that closely. It is a lot of standing and moving around. I do not really sit down until late in the evening. There is a small fan in the corner that barely does anything, but we keep it running anyway. Sometimes customers come in with a rough sketch on a piece of scrap paper and we have to figure out how to make it look decent. We do not use any fancy software for everything, just what works for the job. It is a simple life here on Velayutham Road. We finish the work, wrap it in brown paper, and wait for the pickup. Nothing too complicated, just keeping the tradition of the shop going and making sure the text is easy to read.
