Kannu Impex (India) Pvt. Ltd.

We’re located at Plot 133 on Thiruvalarchipatti Road in Sempattu. It’s near the Airport Post area. The name on the gate says Kannu Impex. Even though we are a private limited company, it’s mostly just a group of us working in a big warehouse-style building. We handle a lot of shipping and receiving. There’s always a truck backing in or a forklift moving pallets around. It’s noisy and there’s usually a bit of grease on the floor near the loading dock. We deal with various goods coming in and going out. It involves a lot of checking lists and making sure the labels are stuck on right. My office is just a corner with a desk and a computer that’s a bit slow. We don’t have fancy uniforms. Most of us just wear old shirts and heavy boots. It’s dusty work. Being near the airport means we hear planes overhead all day long. You get used to it after a week. We focus on getting the crates moved. Sometimes there’s a delay with the paperwork and things sit around longer than they should. We just rearrange the stacks and wait for word. It’s not glamorous at all. It’s just about logistics and making sure the inventory matches the sheets. We keep the kettle going for tea and try to get through the daily pile of work. It’s a steady job in a busy part of town and we like it.
