Kalai Calendars

We operate out of No. 155 Annavithottam Puthur Street. If you’re looking for Kalai Calendars, that’s where you’ll find the machines running. It’s a small operation, mostly just a few of us making sure the dates and months get printed right. We have stacks of paper and ink smells pretty much everywhere in the shop. It’s not the cleanest place because of all the trimming and paper scraps, but we try to keep it organized enough to work. Puthur Street is a regular neighborhood, so we see our neighbors every day. We don't do big fancy ads or anything like that. People just know we are here. Most of the work is seasonal, getting really busy toward the end of the year. We spend long hours watching the presses to make sure nothing goes wrong. Sometimes the paper jams and we have to pull it all out by hand, which is frustrating but it’s just part of the job. We’ve got a couple of old desks where we take orders and talk to people who stop by. It’s a simple business. We aren't trying to change the world, just making sure people have something to hang on their walls to track the days. We use the same machines we've had for a while now. They’re loud, but they get the job done. If you walk down Annavithottam, you’ll probably hear the noise before you see the door.
