Kavin Metal

Kavin Metal is located at 16 Pillai Kadai Veedhi in Nachiyar Koil. We are very close to the Maari Amman Kovil. If you’ve ever been to Nachiyar Koil, you know it’s a place where metalwork is in the air and in the history of the town. We’ve been working with metals here for a long time. It’s a family thing, passed down through a couple of generations from father to son. The workshop is noisy. There is always the sound of hammering or grinding going on from morning until evening. It’s a bit dark inside, but that helps us see the glow of the metal when it’s being worked in the heat. We don't have a website or any of that modern stuff. Most people just walk in off the street because they know the family or they saw our sign near the temple. We make things that are meant to last. It’s hard work on the hands and the back, but there’s a certain feeling you get when a piece is finally finished. The street outside is narrow and can get quite clogged with carts and scooters. Sometimes the smell of the temple incense drifts into the shop, which is a nice break from the smell of hot brass and copper. We aren't looking to become a giant factory. We like the size we are. It lets us keep an eye on every single item.
