Delight Coir Industries

Delight Coir Industries is tucked away at 174, Siva Oil Mill Compound. It is an industrial kind of place, so there is always a lot of machinery noise and the smell of oil in the background. Working with coir means everything is a bit rough and fibrous. You can find little bits of brown fiber on just about every surface in the office. It’s not a place where you would want to wear your best clothes. We have a small area partitioned off from the main work floor where we keep the books and handle the paperwork. The walls are just plain concrete and the floor is dusty from all the activity. We spend our hours making sure the production is moving and that the orders are being filled. It’s a lot of physical work and the staff here are used to the heat and the noise. We don't have any air conditioning, just some large industrial fans that push the air around. We’ve been at this compound for years and we know the rhythms of the place. Lunch is usually brought from home and eaten quickly before getting back to it. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s what we do. We just keep our heads down and try to get through the day’s tasks without too much trouble. It is a steady way to make a living and we are okay with that.
