Laxmi Brick Fields

Laxmi Brick Fields is tucked away in Village Talagaon. If you are looking for us, you just follow the path past the main Post office area and you will see the open fields where we operate. It is a wide-open space which is necessary because the bricks take up so much room while they are sitting out to dry. Talagaon is a quiet place for the most part, except for when we have the machinery going. We have a small crew of workers who live nearby, and they are the ones who really keep the place running day in and day out. We have to deal with the mud and the dust every single day, so nobody here stays clean for long. The piles of raw clay are stacked high on one side, and the finished products are on the other. It is a simple layout. We don’t bother with fancy signage or anything like that. People in the village know where we are. The cycles of the moon and the changes in the wind actually matter to us because of how the fire burns in the kiln. It is a bit of a gamble every time we start a new burn. Sometimes the wood is a bit damp or the wind is too strong, and we have to adjust on the fly. It is just the way things are done out here in the countryside. We are just a local fixture in Talagaon and we've been part of this landscape for years.
