We work out of a small spot at Subhash Chandra Pati Ram’s place, right near the Mazar in Bhattpurwa. It is a very traditional part of the area, and we like it that way. You will not find any shiny logos or big neon signs here. We just have a small board so people know they have the right house. We handle the local savings and credit for the people who live nearby. It is a lot of paper records and hand-written receipts. We are not trying to be the biggest bank around; we are just here for the people who want a local place they can walk to. The office is basically just a room with a few tables and some metal cupboards for the files. Sometimes it gets a bit loud when there is a festival or something going on near the Mazar, but we do not mind the noise. It feels like we are right in the heart of things. We see farmers, small shop owners, and housewives coming in to deposit a few rupees whenever they can. We know most of them by their first names. It is a very practical, no-nonsense kind of setup. We do not use any fancy language or try to sell people things they do not need. We just sit here, do the math, and make sure everything is recorded properly in our books for the community.
