Our work is mostly centered around Muradpur Narkatia, out here past Wamangama and Ringa. We operate from Nirmala Devi’s place in the village. It is a quiet area but there is always a new house or a wall going up somewhere. We spend a lot of time on the road between the different tolas, moving bricks and sand where they need to go. Working in a village like this means you know everyone and everyone knows what you are building. It’s not like the big city where nobody cares who is next door. Here, we have to be careful with the local paths and make sure the materials don't block the way for the cattle or the tractors. We started doing construction because there was a need for it right here in our own community. Most of our guys live nearby, so they don’t have far to travel for work in the mornings. We don’t have a fancy website or a big front desk. If someone needs something built, they usually just come find us at the house or catch us while we are out at a site. The weather dictates a lot of what we do. When it’s monsoon season, we spend more time repairing things or planning for the next dry spell. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from sunrise until the evening. We just keep our heads down and finish what we started.
