Gajanan Stone Works

Our place, Gajanan Stone Works, is located on the Main Road in Halagadi Koppa, Siddapur. If you come by, you’ll hear the sound of stone being cut before you even see us. There is always a lot of white dust in the air from the saws. We work with different kinds of stone, mostly for floors or walls. It is hard work and your hands get rough from handling the slabs all day. The Main Road is usually busy, so we see a lot of people passing through Siddapur. We have the stones laid out so people can see the different colors and textures. It is not a clean showroom; it’s a workshop where things actually get made. We spend a lot of time measuring and marking the stone before the cutting starts. The machines are old but they still do the job well enough. We don't have a big marketing plan or anything. People just see the shop when they drive by or they hear about us from someone else in the village. We try to keep the noise down in the evenings, but during the day it is quite loud. Most of the work is done by hand or with simple tools. We’ve been at this Halagadi Koppa spot for a long time. It’s just us and the stone, working every day to get the orders finished for the local houses.
